Trembling Earth Member guided tour

Explore the exhibition with our art mediator for a unique insight into the stories behind the works and an unforgettable journey of discovery into Edvard Munch's nature motifs

Edvard Munch’s art is mainly known for its striking explorations of deep human emotions. Join the guided tour and discover how Munch, throughout his artistry, nurtured his fascination for nature, which was just as important as his interest in man's inner life and the human condition. For Munch, nature played a far greater role than simply as a backdrop.

Trembling Earth is the first significant survey of Edvard Munch’s depictions of nature. It’s an exhibition that will challenge many of the usual preconceptions about his art. It covers a wide and diverse range of subjects, including forests, the garden, agriculture, the weather, and Munch´s interest in new theories of biology and the cycles of nature.

Trembling Earth is co-organized by MUNCH, The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts, USA and the Museum Barberini, Potsdam, Germany.
