Guro Sibeko: Day in the Life

In the exhibition Call Me by My Name, Guro Sibeko makes a personal interpretation of one of the artworks. Here you can get to know the author better.

Writer, slam poet and activist Guro Sibeko has used her voice to raise awareness about various issues in both Norwegian society and Western culture at large. Through her year long fight against racism, homophobia and misogyny, she is a force to be reckoned with. In this video, we experience a day with Guro. Learn how she spends her time gathering inspiration, creating, and channeling her ideas into momentous prose and poetry.

In connection with the exhibition Call me By My Name, we dive into the creative processes of author Guro Sibeko, the artist Musti and visual artist Ahmed Umar. Here they share their personal stories about ethnicity, gender, identity and belonging, and show us how these stories inform their artistic practice.

In the exhibition, each of the artists is invited to present their interpretation of Edvard Munch's painting Cleopatra and the Slave.

You can experience Sibeko's interpretation here and at the museum.
