Winter Studio Under Construction
Edvard Munch, 1929
In 1929 Munch suddenly had a readymade subject right in front of him at home: the construction of Ekely’s new winter studio. He needed a larger workspace in order to carry out monumental projects and architectural decorations. He was clearly fascinated by the workers, skills and techniques on the building site, and the whole process found its way onto Munch’s canvases.
