Programme 16 October

This Sunday, MUNCH invites its youngest visitors to a workshop with artist Lucía Aragón and to join dance group Landing on a movement-based tour

Would you like to join a tour of our exhibitions with the dance group Landing? The dancers will invite children and adults to join a different kind of tour – a tour where we’ll use our bodies to experience Edvard Munch's pictures. Munch's pictures contain many strange forms and mysterious moods. The same is true of the images created by artist Lucia Aragón. They are full of speed and contrast, and we can find many peculiar beings in her pictures. Under Lucia’s guidance, participants will print powerful pictures inspired by fossils and mythological beings.

Lucía Aragón is an artist who works in various artistic media: painting, printmaking, drawing and light projection. She takes experience from her Mexican heritage and her current life in Norway. In her works, she investigates contrasts and points of transition between light and dark.

Programme 13 November

This Sunday, MUNCH invites you to join a workshop with Jennie Bringaker and to join dance group Landing on a movement-based tour.

The workshop’s starting point will be The Mother – the enormous sculpture that has a permanent home in front of the museum. The sculpture depicts a woman holding an invisible infant in her arms and was created by the British artist Tracey Emin. When Emin talks about the sculpture, she explains that she was inspired by Edvard Munch's mother.Artist Jennie Bringaker invites children and adults to join a sculpture workshop, where participants will make figures to represent their ideas of "small" and "large". While we’re working on our sculptures we’ll think about the following questions: What does it mean that something is small? And what does it mean that something is large? Are large figures always more dominant, protective or powerful than small ones? Or can we turn this whole idea on its head?

Would you like to join a movement-based tour of our exhibitions with the dance group Landing? The dancers will invite children and adults to join a different kind of tour – a tour where we’ll use our bodies to experience Edvard Munch’s pictures.

Jennie Bringaker is an artist and scenographer. She works with performance art and sculpture using various materials such as stone, concrete, ceramics, paper and textiles. As a member of the performance art duo Trollkrem, Jennie has created several projects for the exhibition series Munchmuseet on the Move. In addition to making art, Jennie has worked as a scenographer on children's productions such and has long experience of creating gallery education activities for children and teenagers. Previously, she has created projects for organizations including the Cultural School Bag, Biblo Tøyen, Kulturtanken, and MUNCH.

The workshop is sponsored by the Savings Bank Foundation DNB as part of its annual World’s Coolest Day events.
