At this year’s very first Jazz at MUNCH, Arild Andersen (bass) has invited Marius Neset (saxofone), George «Jojje» Wadenius (guitar), Frode Alnæs (guitar) and Thomas Strønen (percussion) to join him on stage.

Arild Andersen has the incredible gift of being both a veteran with tons of experience, while at the same time remaining curious, challenging and in constant musical development.

Together with Karin Krog, Jan Garbarek, Terje Rypdal and Jon Christensen he was behind an international breakthrough for Norwegian jazz in the 1070s. Throughout his career, he has performed with an impressive line of musicians such as Stan Getz, Pat Metheny, Don Cherry, Paul Bley and Bill Frisell. He has also been involved with some of the greatest Norwegian jazz groups such as Jan Garbarek Quartet, Masqualero, and his own trios and quartets.

Saxophone player Marius Neset is renowned as a musician and composer, working with ensembles such as London Sinfonietta, Bergens Philharmonic and KORK. Jojje Wadenius is one of Swedens most celebrated guitarists, and has collaborated with Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan, Paul Simon, Blood Sweat and Tears and Joe Henderson.

In addition to having started the band Dance with a Stranger, the guitarist Frode Alnæs has played with Arild Andersen in Masqualero and in a trio with the percussionist Alphonze Mouzon. Percussionist Thomas Strønen has released eight albums on ECM and is currently working on the trio albums Bayou with Ayumi Tanaka and Marthe Lea.

The concert is presented in partnership with Oslo Jazz Festival.
