Sinikka Langeland presents a concert inspired by author Jon Fosse’s timeless western Norwegian landscape poetry, brimming with wind, sun, sea, and sky. Langeland is one of Norway’s leading folk musicians, known for her strong, expressive voice and refined performances on the kantele, which sounds like a miniature orchestra.

Her band features the cream of today’s most inventive Norwegian jazz musicians: Mathias Eick, Bendik Hofseth, Mats Eilertsen and Thomas Strønen.

In this project Sinikka Langeland combines her music with poems by Jon Fosse, one of Norway’s leading internationally recognised poets and authors. Langeland has a deep interest in the mysteries of nature, and its resonances with Fosse’s poetry. The music is based on folk tunes but she contrasts the timeless themes of the poems with the present day.
