For three days in January we throw open MUNCH to the All Ears festival of improvised music.

Eivind Lønning & Bára Sigfúsdóttir: «TIDE» (NO/IS)
Rie Nakajima & Pierre Berthet (UK/JP/FR)
'All Ears Talk' Jennifer Gersten (New York Times)
‘Small Ears’ – children are invited to the festival
Children 0-12 years: free
The concerts on Sunday are booked with a wish to include children at the festival. The concerts are both visual and with non-traditional instruments, which we think will be exciting for a younger audience - perhaps especially exciting for children who attended the workshop on Saturday. Remember to bring ear plugs / hearing protection for your children.

TIDE is a duet resulting from an ongoing artistic exchange between Icelandic choreographer Bára Sigfúsdóttir and Norwegian composer and trumpeter Eivind Lønning. Bára and Eivind draw from their individual disciplines to create a work in which music and dance merge into a single form.

Rie Nakajima & Pierre Berthet have been creating various ways to vibrate objects so that their acoustic shadows dance around: Tin cans, whistles, locomotive suspension springs, porcelain bowls, compressor top bells, ping pong balls, agave dry leaves, sponges, steel wires, branches, paper foils, plastic bags, silver papers, pink gloves, piano, balloons, buckets, feathers, water, scraps, pebbles, flower pots, guitar, metal tubes, paulownia tree seeds, pearls, bamboo sticks, logs, bones, stones, filter queens...

More about the programme and artists at All Ears

For the past 20 years All Ears has presented the most cutting edge avant garde music from the international improv scene. For both performers and listeners, improvised music is the art of experiencing sound in the moment.

All Ears Festival 2024 takes place at MUNCH 12-14 January.
