The mould of the earth

The mould of the earth longed for air
Air became water and earth and earth became air
I dreamed at night:
A coffin stood upon a mound – in it lay a corpse
A mother stood ringing a great bell
The mother’s song reached the land of the crystals
A file of men and women went down and repeated the song
It reached the land of crystals
The heavens split and were illuminated
A vast kingdom of crystals could be seen
glowing brightly in all the colours of the rainbow
against diamond-clear large and small crystals
Some formed castles others formed trees
