Edvard Munch, 1922–24

Munch made a series of night-sky paintings, viewed from the top of his veranda steps. Several of them include Munch’s own silhouette, although here his shadow is a more abstract shape. In contrast to the city glowing on the horizon, there was little light interference out here at Ekely.
