At the Scream for Change Ball, members of the Norwegian and international Ballroom scene will be competing in no less than 48 different categories each with its own expression, style and technique. Who will take first place in this groundbreaking celebration of art and activism?
The inspiration for this year’s ball comes from Edvard Munch’s iconic painting The Scream, in which Munch expresses a deep existential angst. The competitors will reveal the things that weigh deepest on their hearts – things that make them want to scream from the bottom of their lungs! A notable international panel of judges will be present, and Kendrick Mugler TV will be on hand to film the event.
Ballroom is a BIPOC queer/trans movement which originated in early 1970s Harlem. The Ballroom scene campaigns against racism, transphobia, homophobia and discrimination. This is a free space for queerness and people of colour. An appeal for change!
The event is presented by Cassandra & Diesel in collaboration with MUNCH and Oslo Pride, with support from RFSU.
Cassandra and Diesel were behind the Distortion Ball in 2024, a sold-out event at Kulturkirken Jakob during Oslo Pride. Together they started CRASH vogue nights in 2017, Norway’s first Ballroom club concept, and have arranged many balls, large and small, since then.
Cassandra
Cassandra is a leading figure in the Norwegian Ballroom community, as well as being a judge and participant in Europe. She has put Norway on the map in her role as Trailblazer and her Up & Coming Legend status in the European Runway category. Cassandra organised Norway's first ball Ball of Norway in 2017 together with Emmadonna and Soul Sessions Oslo. Since then, she has also been responsible for three new editions of Ball of Norway and kiki ball at Dansens Hus.
Diesel
Diesel is a dancer and performer who competes both nationally and internationally. He became an active part of the Ballroom scene in 2011 and went to his first ball in 2016. Diesel is an Up & Coming Legend in the MF Sex Siren category. He has received several awards, including European Prince of Seduction in 2018 and European MF Sex Siren of the Year at the Voguing World Awards in 2024. Among other events, Diesel organized The Sinister Ball for World AIDS Day and The Query Ball at Norway's National Museum.
