Every one of John Surman’s projects are an ongoing adventure.
The journey from his imagination to the page, into the recording studio, and finally onto the stage, is a quest for the ‘unspoken words’ of music.

Saxophonist and composer Surman has lived in Norway for many years and is known for his long standing partnership with jazz singer Karin Krog and recordings made for the ECM label with the likes of Terje Rypdal. Back in the UK in the 1970s, he played with greats like John McLaughlin, Kenny Wheeler and Dave Holland.

John Surman’s newest project, Words Unspoken, continues the conversations that started with the music for his trio Invisible Threads – and this time, he has added percussion and electronics to the mix.

Tonight Surman is joined by Rob Luft on guitar, Rob Waring on vibraphone and Thomas Strønen on drums.
