Small and large — a sculpture workshop with Jennie Hagevik Bringaker.

What does it mean that something is small and something is large? Is the large figure always stronger or more protective than the small one, or can the whole idea be turned upside-down? Inspired by her own peculiar work and Camille Henrot’s exhibition at MUNCH, Mouth to mouth, Hagevik Bringaker wants her workshop participants to explore the relationship between small and large. Through the use of clay figures, a room for many new questions is opened up: How is the relation between the figures you want to make? Can one figure be very energetic, while the other is quiet or weak?

Do you want to join an improv dance tour of our exhibitions?

In this dance tour for children, the dancers use their fantasy in order to immerse themselves in the landscapes and people seen in the paintings. They take the children with them on a journey through the hard and the soft, the melancholic and the lively, death and love. Everything is conveyed with humor and playfulness. An underlying theme here is to challenge established gender norms and to take a closer look at queer ways of expression. This is, amongst other things, shown through costumes and play with gender stereotypic qualities, poses, and movements; all material taken from the performance Blooming. Here, there are no limits to who you can be!

Ticket gives access to workshop and tour.

Jennie Hagevik Bringaker is a sculptor, performance artist, and scenographer. As a sculptor, she works with different materials, such as stone, concrete, ceramics, paper, and textile. She has also worked as a scenographer for numerous children's performances. In addition, she has created different types of events where children and youngsters learn to express themselves through art; she is also the artist behind the popular interactive children’s exhibition The Brain Maze which was shown at MUNCH in 2022.

Carl Aquilizan (he/they) is a Norwegian-Filipino dance artist, educated at Spin Off Pre-Study in Dance and the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, UK. Aquilizan’s artistic practice explores personal reflections on social and cultural norms, and how to challenge established thinking. He is currently performing the solo piece Flower Boy (part of Dansenett Norge, 2024) and the performance, Blooming (shown at Kloden Teater and at MUNCH). Both works explore gender norms and queer identity.
