Over the weekend October 11-13, the performance ‘Made In Self’ by Daniel Mariblanca/71BODIES will be shown 6 times at MUNCH. 'Made In Self' is a result of Daniel Mariblanca's role as a guest curator with CODA 2024 and is a co-production between 71BODIES, MUNCH, and CODA Oslo International Dance Festival.
(The following performance at 18.00 on Saturday will have audiovisual description)

Today we’ll meet Mariblanca in conversation with Stine Nilsen who up till recently was the artistic director of CODA. They will talk about the performance and the process leading up to this weekend, about approaches to curating and artistic creation. The conversation is moderated by Marte Jølbo, artistic director of MUNCH live.

‘Made In Self’ is a curated concept were Mariblanca has collaborated with four performers within contemporary dance and “extreme performance”.  The performance consists of two independent solos and one duo on day 1 and 2, and an extra solo on day 3. Common to the four works is a deep and intense desire to break boundaries, liberate the body from stereotypes, and unfold new forms of masculinity.

Contributing performers are Daniel Mariblanca, Oliver Sale, Jean-Baptiste Baele, Barry de Bruin, Maria Perkances and Florian Doerrhoefer.

71BODIES is a transgender inclusive dance and performance company based in Bergen, created by Daniel Mariblanca in 2016. The interest of 71BODIES is centered on generating artistic expressions through the personal stories and lived experiences of people that exist beyond mainstream society. With every production, 71BODIES creates other ways of expressing what beauty is.

Stine Nilsen has been Artistic Director of CODA Oslo International Dance Festival in the period September 2017-July 2024. Nilsen trained as a dancer in London and worked in the UK as Co-Artistic Director of inclusive dance company Candoco 2007-2017. She is currently Artistic Director of Dansens Hus, Oslo.
